AHHAH's Statement of support for black lives matter
“What is worse than bad people doing bad things is good people standing silently by doing nothing.”
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dear Friends,
AHHAH stands with our nation’s Black communities in outrage and grief over the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and other victims of racist violence by police and others. We stand with protesters determined to build a just and equitable future in which all children grow up free from the scourge of racism.
AHHAH was founded with the mission of empowering youth, strengthening families, and mobilizing communities through arts, literacy, and mindfulness. We provide avenues for young people whose voices have been silenced to be heard and acknowledged. As an organization, we commit to peace, equity, social justice, and creating safe spaces for all young people to thrive, regardless of race or ethnicity. We stand in solidarity with the Black community as they grieve the loss of yet another precious soul to systemic racism. We stand with the millions of people, including those here in Chester County, who have ever been victims of racial prejudice and discrimination. Now is the time, as much as ever, to voice our opposition to violence, racism, and the stark inequities that persist in our society. May ALL people be safe, healthy, supported with compassion and kindness and live in peace.
