FAMILY STORY-TIME YOGA
Story Time Yoga incorporates yoga movement, breath, mindfulness and rest. This is done through story and song. Each month a theme topic is chosen and the practice highlights the theme. A book is chosen to support the theme and helps promotes AHHAHs goal of increasing literacy in our communities. Classes run from 30-45 minutes either weekly or monthly.
The yoga stories shared in Story Time Yoga capture the children's interest by the energy Amanda pours into each class. It's fun and entertaining. The children stay engaged by gathering together to read the book reinforcing the theme of the class. The children continue to sing the songs in the hallways and classrooms. |

STORY TIME YOGA TESTIMONIAL
"This was absolutely wonderful. Conor loved it and it was great to see him take so much pride in his practice. I have always been worried about the social-emotional impact of this closure on all of my guys, but Conor especially. Hearing him say, "I am strong. I am healthy. I am safe" brought tears to my eyes - because I know it's true even during this tough time. "

Cultivating ChangeAs part of our ongoing programming with CCYC we have developed an agricultural workshop that focuses on connecting our youth to their cultural roots through food and various spice blends. We are currently compiling the spice blends that youth develop, along with the poetry they've written to publish our third book, Cultivating Change: Voices of Restorative Justice.
You can read more about Cultivating Change weekly on our blog! |
